As a collective of settlers, immigrants, and descendants of immigrants, we acknowledge, first and foremost, that we live, work, and gather in Tkaranto, TiohtiĆ :ke/Mooniyang, and the territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh. Many of our homes and cities exist on unceded territory and we are mindful of the broken covenants, betrayals and stolen land. We are all treaty people, and we strive to honour the commitments that have or should have been made, with the land and with each other.
We believe every decision, process and action in our field of practice begins with the land. The ongoing legacy of settler-colonial systems impacts all aspects of our contemporary lives, and we strive to shift our collective understanding away from land ownership and towards land stewardship. We commit to doing so through acknowledging the past and present truths of our history with the land and its caretakers, and through acts of reconciliation.
