Non-profit architecture for affordable housing.

People Design Co-op is a non-profit architecture practice working to support the transfer of housing into the public domain. We focus on making meaningful contributions to the built environment, centering the voices of equity-deserving communities, and evolving sustainable design practices that reduce carbon emissions.

We work with non-profit and public housing providers, social service providers, and community land trusts to retrofit and develop their affordable housing stock. Working home-by-home and across large portfolios, we develop strategies that quickly shift operations away from fossil fuels and towards high-performing and passive homes, built with healthy, low-carbon materials that improve the lives and health of their communities and residents.

Our practice is committed to developing dignified, accessible, and sustainable housing using healthy materials that safeguard the wellbeing of people and our planet. Together, with communities whose voices and hands shape our collective vision, we are building a future that serves everyone —

People and the Planet in Co-operation.
